Denso Iridium Spark Plug Denso's Iridium power spark plugs help your vehicle achieve unparalleled performance. It alters the belief that a mere spark plug can add power and mileage. This is done by combining an ultra-fine 0.4mm diameter Iridium center electrode with a tapered cut U-groove ground electrode. Iridium conducts electricity better than platinum, however what makes it exceptional is it's also 6x harder and 8x stronger than platinum. Because of this, the center electrode can be machined down to 0.4mm. This ultra-fine iridium center electrode provides superior ignition performance during acceleration and top cruising RPM. The U-groove ground electrode creates a larger, brighter flame kernel. The tip of the ground electrode has been tapered which further improves firing performance by reducing quenching. All of these features combine to give more horsepower to your motor. I bought a pair of these Denso IXU24 Iridium spark plugs for my Harley Davidson. Mechanics said I couldn't use anything other than 'Harley' branded plugs, which I knew to be marketing bunk. I looked this plug over and discovered close similarities to H-D 'Screaming Eagle' branded plugs. Work great! I'm most happy with the purchase.

Denso Iridium Spark Plugs, IXU24
Tested on Ducati Monster 696
These are a direct replacement for NGK DCP8RE or Champion RA6HC spark plugs, which are used on a variety of motorcycles mostly the air-cooled Ducati L-Twin engines, such as the one in my Ducati Monster 696.
The fine wire tip is 0.4mm in diameter, which many people confuse as the gap. The OEM gap for my DCP8RE plugs was listed as 0.7-0.8mm, however many people on the Internet recommended 0.9mm as a minimum gap when using Iridium spark plugs. They recommended upgrading the spark plug wires as well to handle the higher voltage for jumping that larger gap.
Fine wire iridium plugs are mainly used on automotive engines due to their hardness, resistance to erosion, and overall durability in order to survive 100k miles. Since Ducati motorcycles are rather high maintenance (7500 mile interval for valve adjustments and timing belt replacements), copper plugs are used. I have never had copper...Read more
