Product Description
Bosch Platinum+4 has the most platinum in the Bosch Platinum plug series.ááPlatinum +4 unique firing technology combines the advantages of surface air gap technology and 4 yttrium enhanced ground electrodes.áThe fine wire platinum center electrode (which isáheat fused into the extended ceramic insulator) reducesáthe voltageánecessary to jump the gap as well as reduces quenching.ááTheá4 ground electrode design not only provides multiple radial spark pathsábut also the surface air gap designácreates optimal exposure of the air/fuel mixture to the enhanced ignition spark. The yttrium-enhancement of the ground electrodes even further extends plug life.áAll Bosch Platinum series spark plugs are designed to reach self cleaning temperature faster for quicker starts, smoother acceleration and increased fuel efficiency.

Comment: I put a set of Bosch Platinum 2 plugs in my 97 F-150 this weekend. It was almost undrivable. Couldn't figure what in the world I had done to my engine so I took it to the shop. They put put in a set of plain jane Motorcraft plugs which solved the problem. That's a $397 dollar lesson in what NOT to buy. Thanks Bosch, I really needed that.

Summary: The Only Plugs I Use! 2010-02-06
Comment: I love these spark plugs, I've been using them since the product came out upwards of 8 years ago or so (give or take). The Bosch platinum 4 spark plugs are gap-less, so no messing around with gapping. The four prongs ensure a spark every time (no misfires) and allows the placement of the spark right out at the tip of the plug for better combustion, which also allows for longer plug life with reduced carbon deposition. I ran a set of these for 6 years and never once had a misfire. In fact, the only reason I decided to change them after 6 years was due to a leaky valve cover gasket that leaked around the plugs. Over all, great product, well worth the extra money, with a quality name you can trust - Bosch!

Summary: Draw your own conclusions 2009-11-03
Comment: Bosch Platinum, Platinum 2 and Platinum 4 are differentiated by number of ground electrodes and diameter of center platinum electrode. A Bosch service rep recently told me that Bosch has reduced the diameter of platinum used in the Platinum 4 to maintain profit margins given the increasing cost of commodities.
Draw you own conclusions, but some other facts to consider:
*1.Bosch Platinum is NOT OE in any make/model and never has been since it's introduction in 1983.
*2.Bosch Platinum has not been sold in Germany since the late 1980's due to poor reputation.
*3.Bosch Platinum has one of the highest gross margin percentages of any aftermarket plug sold, thus a large retail following in the USA.
*4.Bosch does make OEM designed plugs using platinum, silver and other precious metals that should NOT be confused with their aftermarket Platinum plug series.

Summary: Only worked for 5 months... 2009-07-24
Comment: It only worked for couple of moths and it started giving me problems, my MDX started clinging when starting up, these spark plugs made me change a starter on a car because the car didn't start ones or twise. I also made sure that the battery was good. Just get OEM spark plugs if you don't want any trouble on a long run.
P.S
Onyl reason I gave it 2 starts is because it increased fuel efficiency just a little bit (and I'm guessing it's because that I had old spark plugs before.
